Awards for Beach Buddies

The achievements of Beach Buddies have been acknowledged with a number of prestigious awards presented to the charity since 2014

Manx Radio DreamCatcher Award: This award was presented to Beach Buddies in 2014 for “Dedication to the Community”.

Pride in Mann Environmental Awareness Award: This was awarded in 2015 by the Isle of Man Newspapers Group, in recognition of the ongoing work of Beach Buddies and its ever-growing number of volunteers cleaning up the Island’s beaches.

Awards for Excellence – Volunteers of the Year: Recognised as the most prestigious of the Isle of Man’s annual awards, this was presented to Beach Buddies at the Villa Marina, Isle of Man at the annual gala awards dinner in 2016.

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve: The Isle of Man was given the prestigious honour of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2016 – the only entire nation in the world to achieve this distinction. Beach Buddies was highlighted during the awards ceremony for its “excellent” example of beach cleaning methodology. Beach Buddies was subsequently invited to become a member of the Isle of Man Government’s Biosphere Committee which will promote worldwide the Isle of Man’s special award.

British Empire Medal: The founder of Beach Buddies, Bill Dale, was awarded the British Empire Medal by Queen Elizabeth II in the New Year’s Honours 2017 for “Services to the Manx Marine Environment”.

ReBA Responsible Business Awards 2017: Beach Buddies was honoured to receive the first ever award for “Charity Community Initiative of the Year” at the Palace Hotel, Isle of Man. Many thanks to the Manx Ocean Group and the ILS Group for sponsoring seats for a team of our volunteers to attend the awards evening.
